Earthworms Across Kansas

Earthworms Across Kansas

I have recently received funding through the Center for Engagement and Community Development at K-State to conduct an earthworm survey of Kansas using a citizen science approach. Earthworms Across Kansas will be an opportunity for middle and high school science classes throughout Kansas to learn about earthworm biology, ecology, and the scientific method while helping to document the biodiversity of native and invasive earthworms. American Fisheries Society

Starting in Spring 2010, I am the faculty advisor for the K-State Student Subunit of the American Fisheries Society. Why, when I study earthworms? Much of the spread of non-native and invasive earthworms is due to human transport, including the movement of bait earthworms. It's also important for aquatic and terrestrial researchers and managers to communicate effectively.
