Overview of Lesson 9 Isaiah 44:6-11. Jeremiah6:13-19.

Theme: The Prophets

1. After Solomon's death, Israel had a civil warand separated into
2 countries: Israel (northern 10 tribes) andJudah (southern 2
tribes).

2. Both countries became very disobedient to God,but God was
faithful to both, sending them prophets.

3. These prophets had 2 main messages: "good"and "bad."
 a. the good news: The Promised One wascoming very soon!
And they gave plenty of information about Him(over 300 specific
predictions).
 b. the bad news: Because of their continualdisobedience,
God would punish them severely.

4. Prophecy (God's prediction of the future) isthe chief way to
prove His Word is true. His prophecies have neverfailed, and He
claims to be 100% perfect in His predictions.

Review of Lesson 9

1. After Solomon's death the nation of Israeldivided into two

while the news of the Promised One was good!

anticipate His coming.

Promised One. All of them were written at least400 years before He
came, and all of them are recorded in the OldTestament.
7. The early books of the New Testament recordshow these prophecies
were fulfilled in the life of the Promised One.
