This website is currently undergoing reconstruction. The reconstruction is happening between classes and research, which means it is going slowly. Patience is appreciated. Care was taken to make sure all the links are accurate, if you find active links that do not go where they should, I would appreciate knowing about them. Links that are not active belong to the parts of the site that are still being constructed. Thank You. Below is a very brief personal overview. Professional information can be found on the CV page. Currently, I am a Graduate student in the Department of Geography at Kansas State University. My research interests are spatial and landscape epidemiology, the analysis of the spatial distributions of operating ecology, and general aspects of the geography of Paraguay. I am now primarily involved in research studying the distribution of hantavirus in rodents in Paraguay. The goal of this research includes understanding how hantavirus spreads within rodent communities with the goal of understanding how to predict and consequently avoid outbreaks of hantavirus into the human population. I grew up in rural Wisconsin, where I had the opportunity to work on local dairy farms. My undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where I got a degree in Agronomy and Genetics. After that I joined the Peace Corps, and served in Paraguay as a Crop Extensionist. I have also received a M.S. degree in Agronomy from Kansas State University and have worked as an analytical chemist in a pharmacology lab at the vet school at KSU. |
