EXERCISE 2

PSYCHOLOGICAL MEASUREMENT (806)

SEPTEMBER 1, 1998

DUE SEPTEMBER 8

DIRECTION -- Use the information from the forty subjects and seven variables (Parts I to VII) on the data sheet from Exercise 1 to complete the following.

 1. Using the first twenty subjects, predict Perceptual Speed using the remaining variables (parts). Produce a table that shows; 1) the weights used to enter the variables into the equation and 2) the incremental increase associated with the addition of each variable to the equations. Use a stepwise forward procedure.

 2. Explain the results from the table in question 1.

 3. Apply your results to predict a person's Perceptual Speed score for the second twenty subjects (show your results).

 4. How good were your predictions? Use a mathematical approach and explain your results.

 5. What are the major limitations of the above work?
