14. Francis Xavier Himmelsbach
was born about 1811 in Alsace, France. e-mail from Wayne Vizniowski, 28
Oct 1998 reported that LDS film # 0740081 (Soufflenheim BMD index film for period
1792-1852) showed birth in Soufflenheim, of Francis Xavier Himmelsbach on 9 Feb
1822.
I read this film 11 March 1999. At first I too read the Soufflenheim birth index
for the years 1823-1832 to appear to show that Francis Xavier Himmelsbach was
born 9 Feb 1822. In fact, the year is 1832. This F.X. Himmelsbach cannot be my
ancestor.
The 1861 Ontario Census shows F.X.H. as age 49 years, and the 1971 Ontario Census
shows him as age 59 years. Based on this information, I estimate that he was
born between April 1811 and April 1812. I do not know where he was born. There
were Himmelsbach births in Soufflenheim so there is a chance he was born there.
He died on 24 Dec 1875 in Formosa, Bruce Co., Ontario. He was married to Genevieve
Gentner on 25 Sep 1843 in Soufflenheim, Alsace, France.
