The 1861 Ontario Census shows F.X.H. as age 49 years, and the 1971Ontario Census shows him as age 59 years. Based on this information, Iestimate that he was born between April 1811 and April 1812. I do notknow where he was born. There were Himmelsbach births in Soufflenheimso there is a chance he was born there.
[ Wayne Vizniowski, in an e-mail 28 Oct 1998, reported that LDS film# 0740081 (Soufflenheim BMD index film for period 1792-1852) showedthe birth in Soufflenheim, of a Francis Xavier Himmelsbach on 9 Feb1822. I read this film on 11 March 1999. At first I too read theSoufflenheim birth index for the years 1823-1832 to appear to showthat Francis Xavier Himmelsbach was born 9 Feb 1822. In fact, however, the year of the birth is 1832; so this F.X. Himmelsbach is not thesame person as our ancestor.]

Marie and Louis Hebert had three children in Paris who came with themto Quebec in 1617. Marie and the children stayed in Quebec during theEnglish occupation 1629-32. Marie remarried in 1629 Guillaume Hubou.
Entry on Marie Rollet, from the Dictionary of Canadian Biography, Vol.1, p. 578, by Ethel M. G. Bennett.
Marie Rollet, wife of Louis Hebert, Canada's first settler; d. 1649 atQuebec.
In 1617, with her husband and three children she came from Paris toQuebec, where she found starvation, sickness and threats of Indianattack. A year after their arrival, says Sagard, the first marriagesolumnized in Canada with the rites of the church took place, that oftheir daughter Anne and Etienne Jonquet. Anne died in childbirth thefollowing year, but there is no record of the child.
Marie Rollet aided her husband in caring for the sick and shared hisinterest in the savages, concerning herself especially with theeducaton of Indian children. In 1627, at the baptism of Chomina'sson, Naneogauchit, which the priests were striving to make animpressive occasion, she feasted a crowd of visiting savages out ofher big brewing kettle. Her name appears often as godmother at thebaptism of converted savages. Two years after the death of LouisHebert, on 16 May 1629, she married Guillaume Hubou. After seekingChamplain's advice, she and her family (i.e., her second husband, her15-yr old son Guillaume, and her daughter and son-in- law GuillaumeCouillard) remainded in Quebec during the English occupation and keptalive among the neighbouring savages the memory of French friendship. After the return of the French in 1632, her house became the home ofIndian girls given to the Jesuits for training . She died in 1649,leaving her husband, her one surviving child, Guillemette Hebert, anda number of grandchildren. She was buried at Quebec, 27 May 1649.
