FIFTH GENERATION

16. James Gormley was born about 1822 in Armagh, Ireland. He died in 1879 in Wallaceburg, Ontario. He was married to Mary Cody on 28 Nov 1843 in St. Augustine, South Rustico, Prince Edward Island.
Bishop Bernard D. MacDonald conducted the marriage ceremony. He had become Bishop of Charlottetown in 1837 but had remained in Rustico, where he had been pastor. [St. Augustine's Church in Rustico was the pro-cathedral of the diocese from 1837 to 1859.]

17. Mary Cody was born about 1825 in Ireland. She died on 17 Jun 1863 in Wallaceburg, Ontario.⁽¹³⁾ Children were:

i. John Gormley Hogan was born on 7 Nov 1844 in Prince Edward Island. Birth date from R. Adams (PEI). 1900 Wisconsin Soundex gives Nov 1844. 1990 Soundex gives name as Hagon. Lists wife as Carrie M. 1880 Soundex lists wife as Mary, age 24, born in Michigan. Could not be Mary Ward from Canada! Living in Clayton, WI in 1880.
ii. Robert A. Gormley was born on 9 Nov 1846 in Rustico, Prince Edward Island. He died on 31 Aug 1936 in Ontario. He was buried in Sombra, Ontario. Baptized as Robert Henry. Descendants think middle initial was A not H. The 1861 census puts it Robert H. Birth and baptismal information from Rustico, PEI, RC church records cited by Robert Adams 11 June 1993. Joe Kearns mentions a second wife, Mary Nolan, but Theresa McCarron thinks this is clearly incorrect, based on conversation with Joe Johnston, keeper of the cemetery records for Sombra. This mentioned in T. McCarron's last letter.
iii. Chris (Chrysogonus) Gormley Hogan was born in Apr 1852 in Wallaceburg, Ontario. He died on 28 Aug 1913 in Osage, IA.

v. James Gormely was born on 1 Jan 1859 in Wallaceburg, Ontario. He died on 20 Apr 1923. He was buried in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg, Ontario.
vi. Mary Eliza Gormley was born on 17 Jun 1863 in Wallaceburg, Ontario. She died on 8 Aug 1925 in Fairview, SD. She was buried CANTON, SD. Husband's name give as Edward Vermillia in Beers (1904). Mary Gormley Vermilya was apparently in Pipestone, MN in Feb. 1900, when she signed Release of Executor for estate of her father James Gormley. 1900 SD Soundex shows her family in Clark Co., SD. Husband's name is Cort in 1900 Soundex.
