Beginning Mountain Dulcimer

Joe Collins, currently a resident of Shelby, NC, has been a folk musician and mountain dulcimer player since the late 70’s. He is a songwriter, vocalist, and an occasional guitarist. His performances are sprinkled with a lot of humor and some excellent mountain dulcimer playing, sure to bring a smile to audiences of all ages. In the last few years, he has also become a popular teacher in mountain dulcimer and folk festivals around the country. In Religious Education for most of his professional career, Dr. Joe is now an assistant professor of religion at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC. Music is an avocation he loves sharing along with his faith in Jesus Christ. Without being pushy, he is open and honest about his faith in all kinds of musical venues.
