Heartland Presbyterian Center
Parkville, Missouri

Heartland Presbyterian Center is located in the beautiful hills north of Kansas City not far from the Missouri River. The center provides facilities for all kinds of activities for a wide variety of groups throughout the year. The last week in July the main buildings are reserved for The Heritage Dulcimer Camp.

hall.jpg The living quarters are equal to those of any good motel with individual baths and comfortable beds in spacious air conditioned rooms. The main building contains, in addition to the camp offices, a large lobby, a spacious meeting hall that also serves as the dining room, a performance hall, and a classroom. There is a small kitchen for snacks and coffee. Other classrooms are located in nearby buildings.

Meals are served family style buffet and are deliciously hearty. “Campers” are responsible for clearing their own dishes and classes take turns with set up duties. This shared activity reinforces the sense of community.

The extensive grounds provide opportunities for hiking. Youth groups often occupy camping areas throughout the grounds. The atmosphere is definitely informal and music can be heard almost any time from almost any location.

Heartland makes an ideal location for getting away from one’s daily activities and concentrating on learning, having fun, and making music.
