Farmette A colleague of mine refers to our 5-acre "farm" as a farmette. It seems to fit. Obviously, 5-acres is not large enough to be considered a farm but too large to call it just a house in the country. On the other hand, it is large enough to raise a few pigs, graze a couple of head of cattle, have several farm cats, and grow a few crops in the garden. We still own three tractors because you never know when you might need a posthole digger, a loader tractor to move a hay bale or some dirt, and a little tractor to mow the pasture twice a year. Our closest neighbor is one mile away. Some might think we are crazy to live so far from people and from where we work (40 miles). I consider it a blessing because we truly have a place to "get away" every day.
