Vibrational spectra and conformations of (bromomethyl)cyclopropane and epibromohydrin. Wurrey, C. J.; Krishnamoorthi, R.; Pechsiri, S.; Kalasinsky, V. F. Dep. Chem., Univ. Missouri, Kansas City, MO, USA. J. Raman Spectrosc. (1982), 12(1), 95-101.

Abstract

IR and Raman spectra show that (bromomethyl)cyclopropane exists as an equil. mixt. of gauche and cis conformers, the gauche form being more stable by D H = 2.0 ± 0.2 kcal/mol in the liq. phase. For epibromohydrin, 2 nonequiv. gauche conformers exist in equil., with DH = 0.80 ± 0.20 kcal/mol in the liq. phase.
