The 75th annual meeting of the CSAS promises to be a lively one, with over two hundred papers and workshops in all sub-fields and specialties of anthropology. A reprints exchange table is planned for the book exhibit area, and teaching workshops will provide the opportunity for in-depth discussion of what works best in undergraduate anthropology classes.
Dr. Jane H. Hill, President of the American Anthropological Association, will be the CSAS Distinguished Speaker; her address, "Race, Racism, and the Unity of Anthropology," is scheduled for Saturday evening, April 4. A Jazz Pub Crawl is planned for Friday night, April 3. A welcoming reception is planned for Thursday evening, April 2.
The meeting will take place close to Kansas City's renowned Plaza shopping area in an area with excellent restaurants, museums, nightclubs, and other attractions. The University of Missouri-Kansas City and the Kansas City Art Institute are nearby.
Prizes will be awarded for the best graduate and for the best undergraduate student papers.
