The project "Conservation of the molecular mechanisms of development"
is funded by the NSF EPSCoR program and the State of Kansas
through K*STAR.
It's goal is to enhance the success of Kansas
researchers in the field of developmental genetics, as measured by such
criteria as extramural grant support, published papers, and scientific
presentations. The project includes two major components. Firstly, the
project provides interim research support for a group of seven relatively
junior, tenure-track faculty members (Core Members) who have not
yet achieved signigicant extramural funding. Secondly, the project is
intended to provide a forum for interactions among Core members and
between them and a group of a more established investigators (Supporting
Members). This second aspect will aid in the research efforts of
individual scientists as well as offer the potential for the
establishment of collaborations.
The project is headed by Dr. Rob Denell, who is an experienced investigator in the area of insect developmental genetics in the Division of Biology of Kansas State University.
