THE FACTS OF LIFE

PROM NIGHT. . .
This is where it all began. Mommy and Daddy got together
and well, ... made me. I am starting out very, very tiny, but
I have all of the 23 chromosomes that make me a unique me!

Three weeks later ... WOW! A lot has happened since
then. Mommy passed her Algebra exam and broke up with Daddy. My
heart just started beating. I am still tiny - about 1/2 inch
long, but I'm growing fast.

6 Weeks later...
Mommy just found out about me. She seems so sad! She
would be happier if she could see me! I have her eyes. And
now I have arms and legs, fingers and toes. I have been practicing
how to wiggle them.

Mommy still acts so sad. She hardly eats or sleeps. All
my organs: heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys have all finished developing. They
are almost all working now; all I need is time and food to grow BIGGER! I
sure wish Mommy was happy.

When Mommy told Grandma about me, I could tell she was really scared. After
a long talk and a lot of crying they were happier. I look even
more like Mommy now (except a little smaller). I have fingernails
and toenails. There is a little bit of hair on my head. Yesterday
I even got the hiccups!

WOW! I know my ears are working now! When Mommy told
Grandad about me he was angry. But things are quieter now. I
think they are talking it all out. I guess they are going to
decide what to do.

They sat down together to decide what to do about me. Raising
me themselves? Adoption? Abortion? They decided that
Mommy is too young to raise a child. So, I will be allowed to
be BORN and given to a married couple who want me very much! They
have wanted children for a long time.

They think I'm pretty special. I have Mommy's eyes, my Daddy's
nose, and I love sucking my thumb. And I will always be thankful
and happy to be alive!
