EDITOR'S NOTE

For Our Children, published for Kansans for Life, is our memorial to all the babies and mothers who have suffered at the hands of abortionists during the twenty long years since Justice Blackmun formulated the decision known to us all as Roe v. Wade.

The number of America's children lost is estimated at nearly thirty-eight million. Because abortion is a surgery often exempt from reporting, and the only kind of death for which no certificate is issued, thirty million is only an estimate.

We publish in loving memory of these children, and also in loving concern for their mothers and fathers. With such large numbers, it is impossible to discuss abortion without speaking directly to its victims. Every family has a member or friend touched by abortion.

When we discuss the facts and history of abortion, we must always be aware, that to our hearers, it may be anguish and sorrow, not statistics. To those of you who have come through the fire and have been healed of grief and regret, we extend a special appreciation for all you do to help others find peace.

In the final analysis, the fuel for the Abortion Industry is no different than it was for the slave trade. It is money. Abortion has been estimated to be a five billion dollar growth-industry in America. It has many protectors, many deceivers, and many victims.

Our efforts to stay the flood with legislation, politics, rescues, door-hangers and rallies have gained us little ground and few friends. Now that the official position of the White House joins the Supreme Court against us, perhaps we will be ready to hear that Voice which our secular nation would like to still.
