Memorial Day is the day we commemorate the valiant men and women who have fought for our freedom over the decades. Memorial Day should also be a day we remember thousands of women and children who fight a war right here on our American soil. Their war is called Freedom to Choose vs Freedom to Live.

I fought in this war and lost. The consequence of a wrong choice that I made at age 16 caused me, a child myself, to become pregnant with child.

I was counseled by tax paid health employees to take the "easy" way out of my situation ABORTION. No alternative choices were offered me during counseling, so I very reluctantly chose abortion.

It was not the easy way of escape at all. Although it was true that I no longer carried the "burden in my teenage womb, I traded "it" for the memory of my lost baby. It is a burden that will remain with me as long as I live.

Countless other women are suffering terrible loss in their families. Whether or not they were told the truth, the unwanted, unplanned baby is a member of their family.

This Memorial Day when we remember the men and women who have died for our freedoms, remember also the words of the STAR SPANGLED BANNER. Pay very close attention to the last ten words of the song: "Land of the free and the home of the brave." The question you must ask yourself is this, 'Is this freedom that so many have died for, the same freedom that we are demanding to take from our unborn babies?

Are we really the home of the brave, we who 'bravely' choose to end the innocent life of the unborn because we are afraid to face the consequences of the 'choice' made at conception?
